Junior Infants / Naíonáin Shóisir 2026 – Fáilte!

Scoil na gCeithre Máistrí

A Thuismitheoirí / A Chaomhnóirí,

Fáilte go Scoil na gCeithre Máistrí!

We are really looking forward to meeting you all on Friday August the 28th for what will be the first day of school life for your child. This can be a challenging, exciting and even a nervous time for everyone. Our primary goal, especially for the first few days and weeks is to create a welcoming and positive environment for parents and children. You will have a multitude of questions, doubts and concerns and this Summer will most likely be the hardest as you await the start date. Remember, our main goal is to create the welcome that you and your child deserve. Please don’t stress if you haven’t absolutely everything for the first day – Be here, be happy, be healthy!

All schoolbooks will be provided by the school, so the book list has become a thing of the past. There are some items that need to be purchased and parents will be directed to our website link below and different class lists so that they can organise these. Most of our communication happens through Aladdin Connect but please don’t worry if as a new parent you haven’t received notification on how to sign up to this. This will be checked and sorted in September after our wonderful new children are welcomed into the school. If you have received the link to create your Aladdin account simply follow the instructions. Once we are all settled in, the Múinteoirí and Príomhoide  will inform you of our information evening for new parents in September. This is a great opportunity to meet, discuss and ask questions. We also have a tradition  of welcoming all our new parents into our hall for an informal ‘cupán tae’ in the first few days. The school will confirm time and date once we are all back! Again, a great opportunity to meet other parents, parent’s association reps and staff whom you will be sharing this journey with.

In order to give a phased in approach with the school day for our Naíonáin Bheaga/Junior Infant class, we have shortened school hours for the first few days:

On Friday 28th August – 10th September inclusive children in Naíonáin Bheaga will be in school from 9:10 – 12:00.

Commencing on  September 11th (Friday) your child will have a full school day and  be in school from 9.10 – 1.50.

Morning Arrival: The school day starts at 9.10. The school gate will open at 9.00. Parents may walk their child to the school yard (Yard with the yellow school bus & red Fire Brigade) and line up and wait for the school bell to ring. For the first few days, parents are welcome to walk with their children into their class. After this, children will have so much catching up to do with new friends they tend to make their own way to the line. Perfectly normal for small feet to falter after the first few days and a warm hand accompanying them in can only be welcomed. Don’t worry if this happens or if they look for you to walk in with them. Leaving our children in school for the first time can be challenging for us as parents also and this is perfectly normal. Relax, take a breath and remember you are part of a wider community where we all try and support each other.

Home-time Collection: Please wait in the school yard (same door) and the children will be let out one at a time. If your child is attending afterschool, please inform Múinteoir on the morning  with the details. Also, if there is someone else picking them up – please let staff know.

Hot lunches for the new Naíonáin Bheaga will commence  later in  September.  The lunch bag company will provide details on how your child’s lunch can be ordered daily in early September. In the interim, please provide an appropriate healthy lunch for your child.

After School club – As per usual after school booking is made through Carrie’s. In September if Carrie’s is at capacity the school will make every effort to accommodate those in need of a place. This may take a few days in September to establish demand.

Breakfast Club – will be starting in September: click here for information
