We are really looking forward to meeting you all on Friday August 28th for what will be the first day of school life for your child. While this can be a challenging, exciting and even nervous time for everyone, our primary goal for the first few days and weeks is to create a welcoming and positive environment for parents and children alike. You will, no doubt, have a multitude of questions
and concerns, and this Summer may see you, our Parents and Children, eagerly anticipating the start date.
Our focus here at Scoil na gCeithre Máistrí is to create the welcome that you and your child deserve. Please don’t stress if you haven’t everything for the first day – be here, be
happy, be healthy! All schoolbooks will be provided by the school, so the book list has become a thing of the past. There are some items that need to be purchased and parents will be directed to our
website link below and to the different class items so that you can organise these. Children starting in our ASD classes can use the same link as Junior infants.
At home keep the conversation happy and enjoyable surrounding school! Most of our communication happens through the Aladdin Connect app – don’t worry
if, as a new parent, you haven’t received notification on how to sign up to this: you will be able to register in September, after our wonderful new children are welcomed into the school.
Always remember you can speak to the principal or teachers in the morning for a brief handover if there are any issues. Communication is key!
Once we are all settled in, Múinteoirí Deidre, Susan and Príomhoide Eoin will inform you of our information evening for new parents in September: this is a great opportunity to meet other parents, discuss topics and ask questions. We also started a new tradition last year of welcoming all our new parents in for an informal ‘cupán tae’ in the first few days. The school will confirm time and date once we are all back! Again, a great opportunity to meet other parents, Parent’s Association reps and staff with whom you will be sharing this journey.
In order to give a phased-in approach with the school day for our Naíonáin Bheaga/Junior
Senior Infant class, & Junior infants in the ASD class we have shortened school hours for the first few days:
On Friday 28th August, children in Junior infants in the ASD class will be in school from 9:10 – 12.00.
From Friday 11th of September, the children in infants will be in school from 9:10 – 1:50.
Morning Arrival
The school day starts at 9.10. The school gate will open at 9.00. Parents may walk their child to the school yard and line up and wait for the teachers to collect their classes. Children who
are in our ASD class are welcome to come through the office entrance, where you would have entered on your first visit to the school and walk with your child down to the classroom. The main yard can be overwhelming on the first few mornings but you are more than welcome to use this main yard entrance if you wish.
Home-time Collection
Again, at home time you can use the same entrance, next to the school office for collection.
If your child is attending afterschool, please inform your Múinteoir/Teacher at the beginning
with the details.
Hot lunches for the new Naíonáin Bheaga & ASD classes will commence in September.
The Lunch Bag Company will provide details on how your child’s lunch can be ordered daily in early September. In the interim, please provide an appropriate healthy lunch for your child.
